This is the third try at this room and I believe it now suits what we were looking for - we'll see how long it lasts! I picked the "French Moderne" lounge chairs in the background, and Paul picked the leather and chrome "Sling" chair (there is a second one across from it), so it's a good mix of both our favorite pieces. I'm thinking of adding molding below the chair railing and repainting, but otherwise I'm very happy with the way it's evolving.

This is the Hotel Marques de Riscal, a member of the Starwood Luxury Collection. It's a stunning hotel in Elciego, Spain, where we spent a long weekend in April of '08. It's centered in the Rioja wine region. We loved it so much that we're booked again, well in advance, for May of next year. I've posted pictures from the Starwood website because they are just perfect in showcasing the design that we love about this hotel - it's one of our all-time favorites. The architect is Frank O. Gehry who also designed the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
Paul has made fun of me (a bit) for this... I bought it for one of our cats as a place to hide during storms. I do think it's a very creative "cat house" and, quite frankly, I just thought it was cute. It's cardboard and requires assembly. I first came across it in a book by Julia Szabo called "Animal House Style" and then actually purchased it online at http://cateau.com.
Update(!): Had a thunder storm this evening, and apparently the Cateau is no match for the safety of being underneath an upholstered chair...

Just purchased "The Find" by Stan Williams. There are beautiful items and rooms profiled, and most are flea market and thrift store finds. I used to visit the thrift stores occasionally but seem to have lost my patience with them in trying to find the elusive diamond-in-the-rough piece of furniture (and one that I was willing to then pay to have refinished)... this book inspires me to give them another shot. Maybe I will...
My first upload. I will need to work on the composition of my photos, but for a first try this is not too bad.
This is our Living Room and it is probably close to finished (Note: finished for me simply means I won't move or change something for, oh, about 6 months). The furniture is Ralph Lauren Home, Lauren Ralph Lauren, and Ethan Allen. Not shown is a piece by Michael Weiss for Vanguard (a bar cabinet). I tend to take my time in getting the rooms just right, and find that I change my mind often. The wall color will change eventually - I'm leaning towards 'Stucco White' by Ralph Lauren (notice a trend?!) which we have just used in our upstairs bonus room (that would be called a 'media' room in the big shelter magazines).
