How tranquil....

An interior designer in Boston posted this picture on her blog (shelterinteriordesign.blogspot.com). A perfect room.

"In the most successful spaces, you don't see everything at once. The more time you spend in them, the more you discover. They open up like flowers." - Vincent Wolfe

What I love about these rooms from House Beautiful...

The neutral palette and simplicity. The mix of material and open floor plan pull your eye through every part of the room.

The wrap around french doors and use of space... (not a fan of the colors)

The volume of the room and the mix of neutrals and blues

It's all white!

There's a lot of furniture in this room, but it works

Our house at the coast

This is the Beachside Modern Buffet from Ralph Lauren Home, as are the glass and chrome Hurricanes. The mirrors are from Homegoods (great find!)

Headboard from West Elm.

Good intentions... but I forgot to take the battery charger to the coast with us this weekend. So the camera fizzled out after just a few snaps. I did get these photos, though, which I think provide a good perspective of our coastal decor. Most of the furniture is Ralph Lauren Home, but the photos show a variety of our finds. The grass rug peeking out of the corner (photo with the blue striped chair) is from Homegoods, as are the two round mirrors over the Modern Beachside buffet, and the oil painting (which I had re-framed). I love the headboard from West elm - it's a popular choice, as I've seen it a few times in some of the home decor magazines.

A peek at our Dining Room

I'm not a fan of dining rooms. They're too little used and I struggle with being creative in a room that is full of table and chairs. This is where we are so far... The rug is recycled from the Den. Although we purchased a new rug for the Den, this one is still a favorite of mine because I really love the color and the design. I prefer using lamps rather than overhead lighting (so we need to fix the spot in the ceiling where a chandelier used to hang!). Lamps just provide a more comfortable ambience in my opinion. The color of the walls will change...eventually.
